Creating a recycled craft project is always special. Not only does it give us an inner joy of giving something a new life – it is also good for mother earth and for our budgets! We had an old plastic box lying around the office for a long time and since I am redecorating the office, I wanted to give this box a new life (or atleast the lid!). Here is how it turned out. Read along for the tutorial.
Here is the final piece. Oh! and this is for your pinterest board.
You would need:
1. Any plastic/woodden/thick cardboard frame or rectangular piece.
2. A cute and broad ribbon to warp around
3. Mirrors. I had a ton of these from my old craft supply box.
4. A glue gun
5. Lots of enthusiasm
Clean the surface of the frame and start wrapping the ribbon from one end. Use glue gun to stick the ribbon on the frame. I used the glue on every alternate strip.
Unless you have a round frame (which would be really nice if you want to make a recycled mirror) – wrapping the corners will be a little tricky. The best way to do it is to use generous amount of glue and try and get a flat surface at the edges.
Step 3: Once the whole frame is covered with the ribbon, time to glue the mirror pieces. It is a good idea to first lay them down and finalize the arrangement and then start gluing them.
Done! Easy wasn’t it? I am planning to use this in the office balcony garden. It would look beautiful reflecting the green and the sunlight. Time for another painting to fill in this frame? Yay!
Do let me know if this project inspired you to recycle something from your household. I’d love to see the pictures of what you make.
Till next time! Happy Crafting!
